Lung Cancer in Urban China
ثبت نشده
چکیده
ung cancer has become the leading cause of cancer death in China with a rapidly increasing trend over the past three decades, especially in urban areas. Smoking is the predominant risk factor for lung cancer. Also, rapid modernization and development has resulted in a large migration from rural areas to cities and a concomitant increase in urban air pollution (1). Due to the high smoking prevalence, severe air pollution and ageing population, lung cancer incidence and mortality in urban China will increase in future decades. Lung cancer screening plays a key role in decreasing lung cancer morality and improving the prognosis of patients, and randomized controlled trials have confirmed the effect of low dose spiral CT screening (LDCT) (2). Accordingly, LDCT screening was approved for Medcare in the United States recently. In urban China, two government-sponsored screening programmes, including lung cancer, were initiated in recent years. This article will give a brief introduction to the lung cancer epidemic, lung cancer prevention and its control in urban China.

Long non-coding RNA FOXO1 inhibits lung cancer cell growth through down-regulating PI3K/AKT signaling pathway
Objective(s): Lung cancer is one of the most common malignant tumors, which seriously threatens the health and life of the people. Recently, a novel long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) termed lncFOXO1 was found and investigated in breast cancer. However, the effect of lncFOXO1 on lung cancer is still ambiguous. The current study aimed to uncover the functions of lncFOXO1 in l...
متن کاملEstablishment of a rat model of radiation-induced lung injury
Background: Radiation-induced lung injury is a refractory side effect in lung cancer radiotherapy, the mechanism still remains unclear, hence an appropriate animal mode may become useful to investigate it. Materials and Methods: 50 female Wistar rats were randomly divided into 5 groups, average 10 rats/cage: A. control group B. 3Gy×10f C. 6Gy×5f D. 12.5Gy×1f E.15.3Gy×1f....
متن کاملATM induces radioresistance of non-small cell lung cancer A549 cells by downregulation of MDMX
Background: Tumor radioresistance leads to a reduction in the efficiency of radiation therapy. It is very important to explore the cellular mechanisms leading to radioresistance and to find potential therapeutic targets, which might improve the efficacy of radiation therapy. This study was to investigate the role of ataxia-telangiectasia mutated (ATM) and murine double minute X (MDMX) in radior...
متن کاملLung Cancer Mortality Trends in China from 1988 to 2013: New Challenges and Opportunities for the Government
Background: As lung cancer has shown a continuously increasing trend in many countries, it is essential to stay abreast of lung cancer mortality information and take informed actions with a theoretical basis derived from appropriate and practical statistical methods. Methods: Age-specific rates were collected by gender and region (urban/rural) and analysed with descriptive methods and age-perio...
متن کاملEconomic Burden for Lung Cancer Survivors in Urban China
BACKGROUND With the rapid increase in the incidence and mortality of lung cancer, a growing number of lung cancer patients and their families are faced with a tremendous economic burden because of the high cost of treatment in China. This study was conducted to estimate the economic burden and patient responsibility of lung cancer patients and the impact of this burden on family income. METHO...
